The area surrounding the apartment

As you stroll through the streets of Plateau Mont-Royal, you'll notice that colourful wrought-iron staircases wind up the facades of the duplexes and triplexes. These architectural curiosities are typical of this neighbourhood which does everything a little differently, and where nothing is ever ordinary. In fact, most Montrealers dream of living on the Plateau, and those who don't actually live here, come to shop, dine and play. Mostly, though, they come to see what's hot in fashion and dining and what's happening on the cultural and clubbing scenes. On the Plateau the food is fantastic, the atmosphere is warm, and it's easy to meet really great people.
Saint-Laurent Boulevard, also known as “the Main”, is famous for its exotic shops, and hip bars and restaurants. It draws its character from the branching side streets where you'll find a plethora of businesses with unique offerings. Restaurants and bistros post tradition-defying menus in a variety of nationalities. Bars and nightclubs range from the quietly elegant to the notoriously raucous. And shops, second-hand stores and ultra-modern designer boutiques offer the latest in urban chic.
Mont-Royal Avenue and Saint-Denis Street feature eclectic and designer boutiques, as well as an unbelievable wealth of sidewalk cafés and restaurants. On Prince-Arthur Street, a quaint pedestrian cobblestone street, you'll find family-friendly restaurants where you're welcome to bring your own wine. Towards Saint-Joseph and Laurier Streets, things become more noticeably French. This is where you can pick up the perfect baguette, hand-made chocolates and exquisite pâtés.

sales@montrealstays.com www.MontrealStays.com 514-962-7368

The area surrounding the apartment

Nestled between mountain and river, Montréal's compact downtown core vibrates to a world beat. This is where Montrealers live, work and play—there's no 6 p.m. exodus to suburbs unknown.
Along Sainte-Catherine Street—which traverses almost the entire city from east to west—and up and down the cross streets, restaurants of every nationality share sidewalk space with international name-brand boutiques, great department stores, intimate café-terrasses and very happening nightclubs and bars. A spectacular view of McGill College Avenue and Mount Royal comes into view from the Place Ville Marie esplanade, the birthplace of the underground network.
Wander up to Sherbrooke Street and browse (or splurge) in the designer boutiques, trend-setting art galleries and museums—including the prestigious Museum of Fine Arts—of the Museum Quarter. Stroll east and enter Chinatown, where a thriving Chinese community continues to celebrate traditional festivals and holidays, and where you'll find all kinds of neat things, like medicinal roots, exotic foodstuffs and hand-painted porcelain.
With centuries-old buildings and modern skyscrapers, a medley of architectural styles stands side by side for all to behold. The Quartier international, an exceptional new urban space, is one such site. In addition to the Palais des congrès (Convention Centre) and its colourful glass façade, Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle is well worth a visit for its remarkable fountain-sculpture that features a ring of fire.
Then there's downtown's famous alter ego: the underground pedestrian network. Directly under the heart of the city lie 33 kilometres (20 miles) of brightly lit, scrupulously clean passageways, linking thousands of boutiques, major hotels, restaurants, universities, dozens of office buildings and attractions. This is definitely the Montréal of Montrealers. Every day more than 500,000 people connect through here on their way to work, shop, dine or spend a night—or day—on the town.

sales@montrealstays.com www.MontrealStays.com 514-962-7368

The area surrounding the apartment

One popular area for bars and nightlife is Rue St. Laurent , which is especially filled with dance clubs and upscale bars. The Rue Crescent area also tends to be very active and popular at night.

Many visitors end up on Rue Ste-Catherine , the infamous bar and nightlife district that never seems to sleep and which boasts more than a few seedy characters and its share of adult-oriented entertainment places. One fun bar near St. Catherine's is an Irish pub called Hurley's , while Churchill's and Electric Ave . are also popular spots for dancing. Also try St-Elizabeth's on the corner of Rue Ste-Elisabeth and Rue Ste-Catherine. it's a little hard to find but it's a local favorite, especially for university students.

On St-Denis, right above Rue Ste-Catherine, you'll find a plethora of bars with great outdoor terrasses (patios). St-Sulpice and St-Ciboire (infamous for its apple beer) have two of the largest terrasses in the area and fill up quickly on the weekends. In the same vicinity, you'll also find a great jazz bar called Beebop on the corner of St-Denis and Ontario. All are great choices if you just want to sit and people watch, or if you feel like getting drunk enough to puke on the sidewalk.

sales@montrealstays.com www.MontrealStays.com 514-962-7368

5200/month - 3BR - The most beautiful apt in montreal

The area surrounding the apartment

Everything you could want is literally within a few blocks of this location. The Plateau is now considered to be the most desired living area in Montreal : for the upwardly mobile: lots of “cachet” and very alive even well into the evening. Montreal is considered one of the safest cities in North America : The streets of the Plateau are full of people well into the night.

All around the area, you can find restaurants, bistros, boutiques, and stores of all sorts. Also, unique to the area are “bring your own wine” restaurants : wonderful really in that you can go to the wine store (which is only a few blocks away!) and buy a nice or even a great bottle of wine (or Champagne?) and take it to any of many fine restaurants for a great inexpensive but memorable dining experience.

The area has numerous fine “French” style bistros as well as Greek, Italian, Thaï, and even Indian establishments that will accept bring your own wine dining. Carre St. Louis Park is just at the corner : plus the pedestrian walkway of Prince Arthur starts at the park and continues to St. Laurent Street. The metro is just also at the corner : Sherbrooke station.

Parks & Recreation / Gyms, etc. : 5 short blocks East on Cherrier is Park Lafontaine : A wonderful large park which features a small lake and even presents live open air shows and concerts, during the summer months ! Or go West on Roy the same short distance and you have the renowned park “Mont-Royal”. Actually Montreal is named for this mountain park : cycle, walk, jog, cross country ski, or just visit the lake on the top and have wonderful views of the main city below from the various vantage points. If you look on a map of Montreal you will see how huge this park really is.

Health Facilities : There are a number of gyms’ all within a few blocks of the loft, most with extensive equipment and facilities. Yoga and other specialty classes are also in the general vicinity. I also have a “around the area” Word doc that is left to all visitors on arrival, to help them find the various basic living amenities which can assist them during their stay (pharmacies / groceries / post office, etc.).

Transport / parking, etc : A car is really not necessary considering the location which is less than a block away the Sherbrooke Metro (subway) station. No need to call a cab either as just at the very corner is St.. Denis Street where you can hail a cab in a minute or less, at any time of the day or night. Visitors with cars can have free parking on half of the street in designated sections (half of the street is appropriated for non permit cars).

Parties staying for extended periods can also purchase an inexpensive city permit for the immediate area which allows you full access to the entire street not just the open to free non permit parking areas.

Getting Around the City or further : Downtown is only 5 minutes away by cab or similarly by metro from the Sherbrook metro station (similarly to Old Montreal, the Harbourfront, Westmount or the Village : almost all sections of the city can be an easy 20 or 30 minute metro ride). The Bus Station is literally only 5 or so short blocks away, or you can have a 5 minute cab ride to the main Train Station downtown.

The Apartment

This is the top two floors of a grey stone triplex, which is very typical of the area especially around the Carre St. Louis Park. Properties in this immediate vicinity have added value within the Plateau district. Total living space is quite large at approximately 3 000 square feet plus a private roof terrace. The interior is totally renovated: so is not at all a typical triplex configuration on the inside.

From the entrance, on the main floor there is a double salon living area, a large lobby and an “office” area,(down to the sauna room, or up a open iron staircase to the dining room and kitchen above). At the back of this main floor, there is also a bedroom adjacent to the greenhouse atrium, with its own large full bathroom.

Upstairs has a huge master bedroom facing west with a balcony and a large full bathroom. In the middle of the top floor is the open concept kitchen and dining room which is covered partially by the atrium: so you are dining under the stars in fact. At the back of this floor there is a bedroom also with its own full bathroom.

Kitchen facilities : All high-end appliances complete with dishwasher, full size wall oven, microwave, and a counter top stove, large center island work space and extensive cabinetry.

Furnishings and Décor : Style wise I tried to keep this place light and open: Most furniture is white and cream, with chocolate and yellow accents which add color throughout the house. The greenhouse is its own environment in a white setting. The floors are light colored natural hardwood; White tiles are in the kitchen and bathrooms. Other accents include ceiling fans, modern area rugs, halogen lighting and of course the greenhouse feature which gives this place its “Aix-en-Provence” feel.

Bathroom Facilities : Nice comfortable size bathrooms. Bowl sinks, walk in showers or combo shower and bathtub configuration, and all toilets are closed “European” style private rooms. Laundry facilities with a full size washer and dryer are located on the lower level beside the Jacuzzi room.

Sleeping Accommodations : This loft – condo has 3 closed bedrooms (each with their own full bathrooms: see above). Platform style beds and side vanities. The master bedroom is on the top level: with a king bed, two large bureaus, two dressers, TV, and closet facilities, two ceiling fans for air circulation ( A/C cooling or heat): plus a small balcony facing west.

Two more bedrooms (one queen and one double) : one on the top floor and one on the main floor adjacent to the greenhouse atrium (each with their own full bathrooms : one with a tub-shower and one a walk in glass shower).

Apartment features

Apartment General Amenities General	bed linen & towels, washing machine, air-conditioning, oven, fridge-freezer, toaster, pots & pans, TV, DVD player, stereo, radio, Jacuzzi, dryer machine, dishwasher, shower, microwave, heating, bathtub, telephone, Internet Wireless, Double bed, Queen Size Bed

For shorter stays, just contact us via email or phone number

The area surrounding the apartment

Lifestyle with bravura

Designed by Panzini Architects and inspired by the area's rich architectural heritage, Majestic is the ultimate in modern urban living.

Majestic is located in a new dynamic business area named the Quartier International (the International Quarter) where many organizations and corporations from a variety of industry sectors make their home. The Palais des congrès de Montréal (Montreal's Convention Centre), the Montreal Stock Exchange; Place Bonaventure, and Montreal's World Trade Centre are a short walk away.

Access to transportation networks is remarkably quick and easy. The Ville-Marie Autoroute (Highway); the Train System, the Métro System (subway system) are all within minutes. Entry to the Underground City for shopping and services is just across the street, as is the entry and exit of the inner-city highway making it a quick drive to Montreal's Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport located some 20 km away.

Located at the very historic portals of Old Montreal, the Ruelle des Fortifications runs along the rear courtyard of the Majestic building. This historic laneway marks the foundations of part of the original wall that encircled and protected the city back in the 18th century. Majestic stands on the site of the very first expansion of the 350-year-old city near Rue St. Jacques and Rue Notre-Dame which rapidly grew into what we know today as modern, cosmopolitan Montreal, Canada's second largest metropolis.

The city of Montreal is recognized as the cultural capital of Canada and living at Majestic lets you take full advantage of everything the city has to offer. Just a few blocks north of the building is the Quartier des Spectacles, Montreal's major entertainment district. It includes the city's theatres and festivals.

sales@montrealstays.com
www.MontrealStays.com
514-962-7368

The area surrounding the apartment

Quartier International When the crosstown highway, Route 720, was constructed some years ago, it left behind a desolate swath of derelict buildings, parking lots, and empty spaces roughly located smack-dab between downtown and Vieux- Montréal. Bounded, more or less, by rue St-Antoine on the south, avenue Viger, under the highway, on the north, rue St-Urbain on the east, and rue University on the west, this no-man's land is slowly being spruced up with new parks, office buildings, and a recently expanded Palais des Congrès (Convention Center). A small plaza, opposite the west end of the Convention Center, is named for Jean-Paul-Piopelle, a prominent Québec artist of the latter half of the 20th century. One of his sculptures stands there. By some definitions, the Quartier incorporates the World Trade Center Montréal, a complex of brokerage houses, law firms, and import-export companies.

sales@montrealstays.com
www.MontrealStays.com
514-962-7368

The area surrounding the apartment
