Description:
China and the great wall are synonymous. Unless you visit the great wall you really haven’t seen China and we have a special trip that will make your visit to the great wall much more exciting and memorable. What we are offering is a two day, one night trip of camping and trekking on a non-restored section of the great wall.
From our site you can see the true history and construction of the great wall in beautiful surroundings with only a handful (if any) of people. At other sites the wall is restored and new, filled with hundreds of people and no peace and quiet. Frankly, it just doesn’t have a “legitimate” feel. The section we bring you to is wild and untamed, untouched by developers and eager to be explored. I can say from personal experience it was one of the most breath-taking and genuine experiences I’ve had in China or in any of my other travels.
On the first day, you take a combined 2 hour bus journey to a small town on the outskirts of the great wall. Here you meet your two guides. Together you hike up the mountain as they carry your food, tents, sleeping bags and mats. Once situated and dinner time rolls around, our guide will cook a barbecue dinner (chuan’r) for you on the great wall and provide you with snacks, coffee, tea and even beer!
When dinner is done you are left with your travel companions to enjoy a beautiful night on one of mankind’s greatest achievements, to sit, talk, laugh and soak up the star-drenched sky. The next morning, our tour guide will greet you with breakfast so you can gain energy to tackle the trek through the non-restored section of the great wall. After breakfast, you part from the tour guide and head into the great wall as very few people see, eventually arriving to the restored section and back home to Beijing by mid-afternoon.
Our pricing structure is as follows: 500 RMB per person for groups of 4 or less; 450 RMB per person for groups of 5 or more. E-mail us at greatwalladventures@gmail.com
