Description: Foreigners must hold a Chinese driving license to drive in China. To obtain this you first must possess a valid residence permit ( If you do not have your resident permit but have L , F or student visa then you need to have an additional document from your Landlord called Temporal resident which is obtained through your Landlord in the local police station.) and a valid foreign driving license. You will be required to have a brief medical and written test. The whole process takes about two weeks. The written test is done on every Tuesday's and Thursday's

Members of the diplomatic community have duty free privileges on all imported cars.
A non Diplomat foreign person must be working for a foreign company, has a resident permit valid for one year or above, employment permit, customs white book if your company is rep. office, customs black book if your company is joint venture or wholly owned before you will be qualify to buy a car from the Embassies. If you are qualified then you will be required to pay customs and purchase tax.
