When Should You Get The Cervical Cancer Vaccine In Singapore?

In Singapore, the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine—which helps prevent cervical cancer—is strongly recommended for individuals aged 9 to 26, with the greatest benefit seen when administered before sexual debut.

Ideal Age & Schedule
Ages 9–14 - 1st dose at, say, age 10
2nd dose 5–13 months later

Ages 15–26
3-dose schedule
1st dose → 2nd after 1–2 months → 3rd after 5–6 months

Ages 27–45
Vaccination may still be available, but its protective value diminishes due to likely prior exposure.
Arrange with your doctor to discuss benefits and available vaccine options.

Where & How to Get It in Singapore

Secondary 1 & 2 girls (Singapore citizens or PRs) are offered fully subsidised Cervarix at school — 2 doses (under 15) or 3 doses (15 or older) based on age at first dose.

Get your HPV vaccine between ages 9 and 26, preferably before sexual activity. Younger individuals (9–14) follow a 2-dose schedule, while those 15+ need 3 doses. Singapore provides subsidies and school-based programs, and you can use MediSave to offset costs. If you're older (up to 45), discuss options with your doctor even though public funding is limited.
