1. Unusual Discharge from the Penis - Thick, white, yellow, or green discharge, especially from the tip of the penis. Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia. Early discharge is often the first warning sign of an infection.
2. Pain or Burning Sensation During Urination - Discomfort or a burning feeling while urinating. Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Trichomoniasis. This indicates inflammation of the urethra (urethritis), which is often due to infection.
3. Sores, Blisters, or Bumps on the Genitals - Painful or painless sores, ulcers, or fluid-filled blisters. Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), Syphilis, HPV (warts). Genital sores can be highly infectious even when painless.
4. Itching or Irritation in the Genital Area - Persistent itching, redness, or discomfort. Pubic lice, herpes, fungal infections, or allergic reactions to condoms. Itchiness may indicate skin irritation or early signs of an STD.
5. Swollen Testicles or Groin Lymph Nodes - Pain or swelling in the testicles or groin area. Epididymitis (often caused by Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea). Ignoring this can lead to long-term complications like infertility.
If you experience any of these symptoms, visit a GP or sexual health clinic (like DSC Clinic or private urologists). Many STDs are treatable or manageable if caught early.
