Much talk is made of the realignment of the world's geopolitics where power bases are shifting and the influence of one or two superpowers is waning as countries look for more economical and affordable solutions elsewhere. On a more micro level the same can be said of international schooling.

Historically, international schooling in South East Asia was dominated by schools who, like the super powers of the world, were able to show off top-dollar facilities in the form of sprawling multi-sports fields, modern theatres with all the digital bells and whistles, science labs with the latest biogenetic engineering as well as classes with every AI-enfused piece of software and hardware. All of this does not come cheap and if the latest educational research is to be believed the effect of these investments on students’ learning is undoubtedly not worth the spend.
