A Legacy in the Making: History and Establishment
RGS Ayurvedic Medical College was founded in 2022 amid a surge in demand for qualified Ayurvedic practitioners. Though young, it builds on the RGS Group's commitment to healthcare education, with roots tracing back to earlier ventures around 2019. Chairman Girdhari Lal Shukla clearly envisioned creating a center of excellence that pioneers Ayurvedic education while integrating modern research. The college's mission is to deliver value-based education fusing science and spirituality, offering classical Ayurveda treatments via dedicated doctors, and establishing a premier patient-focused healthcare system.
Key objectives include fostering Ayurvedic growth, high-quality UG/PG training (starting with BAMS), research in Ayurveda, and equipping graduates for global challenges. The vision? Pioneer students with traditional Ayurvedic values using innovative teaching and research to combat diseases nationwide. Approved by NCISM for 100 BAMS seats from 2025-26, RGS quickly earned accolades for its rapid infrastructure development and compliance with stringent standards.
In just three years, RGS has hosted freshers' parties, cultural events, and OPD expansions, fostering a vibrant community. Its strategic location offers tranquility for study while being accessible via NH-24/Sitapur Road.
Academic Programs: The Flagship BAMS Course
At the heart of RGS is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)—a rigorous 5.5-year program (4.5 years academics + 1-year compulsory rotating internship). With 100 seats, it's designed for NEET-qualified students passionate about 'Ashtanga Ayurveda' (eight branches: internal medicine, surgery, etc.).
Eligibility Criteria:
10+2 with PCB & English (50% aggregate for General; 40% for SC/ST/OBC).
Minimum 17 years by Dec 31 of admission year.
Valid NEET UG score.
The curriculum integrates ancient texts like Charaka Samhita with modern anatomy, pathology, and pharmacology. Students master diagnostics, Panchakarma, herbal formulations, yoga, and surgery (Kshara Sutra). Guest lectures from Lucknow's top medical colleges bridge Ayurveda and allopathy.
No PG courses yet, but faculty MD/PhDs hint at future MD/MS programs. The emphasis on practicals ensures graduates are clinic-ready, meeting NCISM norms.

Attached Hospital: Real-World Clinical Training
RGS Ayurvedic Hospital is a 120-bed powerhouse with OPD/IPD, 6 wards, major/minor OTs, ICU/NICU, emergency (24/7 ambulance), digital X-ray, USG, and Panchakarma suites. Specialties: Kayachikitsa, Shalya, Shalakya. Free OPD registration online; daily patient influx provides hands-on experience during internship.
Students rotate through departments, mastering treatments like Basti and Virechana. The hospital's state-of-the-art setup ensures ethical, evidence-based care.
