Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra Ayurved Medical College,Sharanpur

In the heart of Uttar Pradesh, where ancient traditions meet modern aspirations, lies an institution dedicated to preserving and advancing one of the world's oldest healing systems: Ayurveda. Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra Ayurved Medical College and Research Centre (KSVAMCRC), located in Gangoh, Saharanpur, stands as a testament to this enduring legacy. Established in 2014 as a constituent department of Shobhit University, Gangoh, the college has quickly emerged as a premier center for Ayurvedic education, research, and healthcare. Recognized by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and approved by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, KSVAMCRC embodies the holistic, eternal, and practical essence of Ayurveda—described in ancient texts as the "science of life" (from Sanskrit "āyus," meaning longevity, and "veda," meaning knowledge).

The Roots: History and Establishment

Ayurveda, often hailed as the parent of all medical systems, traces its origins to the Vedas, particularly the Atharvaveda. It flows through classical texts like the Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Vagbhata's Ashtanga Hridayam, offering a holistic approach to health that balances body, mind, and spirit. Over centuries, Ayurvedic practitioners have developed medicinal preparations and surgical procedures to address a wide array of ailments. In modern India, institutions like KSVAMCRC are pivotal in bridging this ancient wisdom with contemporary science.

Founded in 2014, KSVAMCRC was established under the visionary leadership of Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, co-founder and chancellor of Shobhit University. The college is part of Shobhit University, Gangoh, which was notified by the Government of Uttar Pradesh under the Shobhit Vishwavidyalaya, Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam, 2011 (U.P. Act No. 3 of 2012) and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. Located in the historic town of Gangoh on the banks of the Yamuna River, approximately 150 km north of New Delhi and 40 km from Saharanpur, Karnal, and Yamuna Nagar, the campus benefits from a serene, natural environment conducive to learning and healing.

The Setting: Campus and Location

Nestled in the Adarsh Institutional Area on Babu Vijendra Marg, Gangoh, Saharanpur (PIN: 247341), the campus spans a picturesque landscape that reflects Ayurveda's emphasis on harmony with nature. The university buildings are contemporary, light-filled, and artistically designed, surrounded by lush greenery that enhances the therapeutic ambiance essential for Ayurvedic studies.

Saharanpur, known for its rich cultural heritage and proximity to the Yamuna, provides an ideal backdrop. The region's biodiversity supports the college's herbal garden, where students cultivate and study medicinal plants firsthand. Accessibility is a plus: the campus is well-connected by road and rail, making it convenient for students from across India and abroad. This location not only fosters academic focus but also allows for community outreach, where students participate in health camps and awareness programs, promoting Ayurveda in rural Uttar Pradesh.
