Housekeeping duties involve maintaining cleanliness, organization, and sanitation in homes or facilities, covering tasks like dusting, vacuuming, mopping, making beds, changing linens, cleaning bathrooms/kitchens, managing laundry, and disposing of trash. Responsibilities extend to restocking supplies (toiletries, linens), reporting maintenance issues, managing guest requests, and ensuring safety/security protocols are followed, with some roles also including cooking, errands, pet/child care, and managing tradesmen.
Core Cleaning Duties
Floors: Sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, and polish.
Surfaces: Dust, wipe, and sanitize furniture, fixtures, and counters.
Bathrooms: Clean toilets, sinks, showers, and replenish supplies.
Kitchens: Clean appliances, counters, and dishes.
Windows: Wash interior and exterior windows and walls.
Trash: Collect, empty, and dispose of waste and recycling.
Room & Linen Management
Bed Making: Make beds and change bed linens according to standards.
Linens: Wash, fold, and stock clean towels, sheets, and other linens.
Supplies: Restock toiletries, amenities, and cleaning agents.
Tidying: Organize rooms, tidy common areas (hallways, lobbies).
Maintenance & Reporting
Report Issues: Identify and promptly report any needed repairs or maintenance.
Lost & Found: Handle lost articles according to procedures.
Guest & Facility Services (Hotels/Facilities)
Guest Requests: Respond to guest calls for extra supplies or services.
Security: Follow hotel security and fire regulations.
Support: Assist other departments as needed.
Extended Responsibilities (Private Homes/Larger Estates)
Laundry: Handle all household laundry and ironing.
Errands: Run errands like grocery shopping.
Meals: Cook and prepare meals.
Child/Pet Care: Look after children or pets.
Tradesmen: Manage and oversee external service providers.
