HSE Engineer - Construction

Key Responsibilities

Design, apply, and manage HSE programs in accordance with project needs, organizational policies, and relevant local regulations.
Ensure consistent implementation of safety management systems, including risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work controls.
Conduct routine site safety inspections, internal HSE audits, and toolbox talks to reinforce and maintain a positive safety culture.
Recognize, evaluate, and manage construction hazards such as excavations, work at height, lifting activities, scaffolding, and formwork systems.
Oversee and enforce HSE compliance by subcontractors, supervisors, and site staff to ensure safe work practices are followed.
Manage investigations of accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe situations, ensuring timely reporting and closure of corrective actions.
Maintain, review, and update HSE records including incident logs, safety performance data, inspection findings, and training registers.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to embed HSE requirements into day-to-day construction activities.
Monitor correct use of personal protective equipment and ensure appropriate safety signage and warning notices are in place.
Assist with emergency response planning, conduct drills, and support environmental protection and sustainability initiatives.

Education & Experience

Degree or diploma in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
Three (3) to seven (7) years of experience in an HSE Engineer or Safety Officer role within construction or building projects.
Professional HSE qualification such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA, or an equivalent internationally recognized certification is required.
Solid understanding of local HSE regulations, international safety standards, and construction industry best practices.
Demonstrated experience in HSE documentation control, audits, and coordination with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
