The Welding Inspector – Offshore is responsible for ensuring that all welding activities carried out offshore comply with approved procedures, international codes, and project specifications. The role involves inspection, surveillance, and documentation of welding works to maintain high quality and safety standards during offshore construction and maintenance activities.
Roles & Responsibilities
Inspect and monitor offshore welding activities to ensure compliance with WPS, ITPs, and project specifications
Verify welder qualifications, welding consumables, and equipment calibration
Conduct visual inspection before, during, and after welding operations
Witness and coordinate NDT activities as per approved inspection plans
Identify non-conformances, issue NCRs, and follow up on corrective actions
Review welding records, inspection reports, and quality documentation
Ensure compliance with offshore safety, quality, and environmental standards
Coordinate with contractors, supervisors, and QA/QC teams during inspections
Mandatory Requirements
Minimum 10 years of experience as a Welding Inspector
Proven offshore project experience
Strong knowledge of welding inspection during construction and maintenance phases
Certification such as CSWIP 3.1 / AWS CWI (mandatory or preferred as per project)
Knowledge of international welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ISO, API)
Experience working with offshore oil & gas or marine projects
Ability to read and interpret welding drawings, WPS, and technical documents
Willingness to work offshore rotations
