The Coating Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all surface preparation and coating activities at the fabrication yard comply with approved specifications, international standards, and project quality requirements. The role involves inspection, documentation, and coordination with fabrication and quality teams to ensure coating integrity and corrosion protection.
Roles & Responsibilities
Inspect surface preparation, blasting, and coating application activities at the fabrication yard
Verify compliance with approved coating procedures, ITPs, and project specifications
Monitor environmental conditions and coating parameters (DFT, WFT, adhesion, curing)
Witness and record coating inspections, tests, and measurements
Identify non-conformances and raise NCRs; follow up on corrective actions
Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of coating materials
Review coating reports, batch records, and inspection documentation
Coordinate with QA/QC, fabrication, and production teams for quality compliance
Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations during coating works
Mandatory Requirements
Minimum 10 years of experience as a Coating Inspector in fabrication yards
Proven experience in oil & gas, structural steel, or heavy fabrication projects
Strong knowledge of surface preparation methods and industrial coating systems
Familiarity with international standards such as NACE, SSPC, ISO, ASTM
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and coating procedures
Experience in inspection documentation and reporting
Willingness to work in fabrication yard environments
