EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
CERTIFICATIONS (PREFFERED):
• Yokogawa Certified Engineer (CENTUM / ProSafe-RS)
• ISA Certifications (ISA-84, ISA-95, ISA-101)
• CompTIA Security+ or ICS cybersecurity training
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 10 years hands-on experience in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) engineering.
• Minimum 5 years specific experience with Yokogawa CENTUM VP / ProSafe-RS (DCS/ESD) systems.
• Proven experience in:
o System upgrades / migrations (hardware & software)
o DCS/ESD testing, commissioning, FAT/SAT
o Industrial plant automation in power, water, petrochemical, or utilities sector
o Handling interface protocols: OPC DA/UA, Modbus TCP/RTU, Ethernet-based protocols
o Working in operational facilities with strict shutdown windows
TECHNICAL SKILLS in DCS / ESD Competency:
• Expertise in Yokogawa CENTUM VP R5 / R6 configuration, engineering tools, graphics, alarms, FCS logic.
• Strong knowledge of ProSafe-RS R3 safety logic, SCS/SENG engineering, SOE, and interlocks.
• Ability to perform:
o FCS and SCS configuration
o Database migration and validation
o HMI/graphics development and upgrade
o Historian (Exaquantum) configuration and backup/restore
o PRM, PMS, EMS system upgrade support
TECHNICAL SKILLS in Migration & Upgrade:
• Experience replacing:
o Workstations, servers, engineering stations
o Obsolete CPU cards, FIO modules (e.g., CP451, AFV10D)
o Switches and network devices
• Data backup, conversion, and “no-data-loss” migration for historians.
CYBERSECURITY KNOWLEDGE:
• Familiarity with OT cybersecurity controls such as:
o System hardening (CIS/STIG)
o Patch management
o Access control & password policies
o Antivirus/whitelisting on OT systems
o Network segmentation, DMZ concepts
• Awareness of:
o IEC 62443
o NIST 800-82 / 800-30
o National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) OTCC-1 compliance (preferred)
NETWORK & SYSTEM SKILLS:
• Strong understanding of OT networks including:
o Vnet/IP
o Layer-2/Layer-3 switches (Cisco/Hirschmann)
o Redundant network architectures
o SPAN/mirroring for IDS
• Experience in:
o System cabinet layout
o Fiber/copper network troubleshooting
o Power supply & grounding requirements for DCS equipment
PROJECT EXECUTION SKILLS:
• Ability to develop:
o Detailed engineering packages
o Method statements & Device Transition Plans (DTP)
o Shutdown execution plans
o Test procedures (FAT/SAT/ITP)
• Experience coordinating with:
o OEM specialists
o Cybersecurity teams
o Instrumentation & electrical crews
o Plant operations during cutover
SOFT SKILLS
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Excellent communication with operations, maintenance, and OEM teams.
• Ability to work under pressure during shutdown windows.
• High safety awareness and compliance mindset.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Must be available for on-site work in Yanbu-1 (Y1).
• Ability to work during planned annual shutdown.
• Valid work permit eligibility in Saudi Arabia.
• Good command of English (spoken & written).
