Skills need :
1- SIEM Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools like Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Elastic Stack, or IBM QRadar is critical for analyzing logs and event correlation.
2- Networking Fundamentals: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VLANs, and VPNs to analyze network traffic and identify anomalies.
3- Operating Systems (Windows/Linux): Knowledge of system administration, file systems, user permissions, and log analysis on both Windows and Linux, including command-line proficiency (PowerShell, Bash).
4- Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR): Familiarity with EDR/XDR tools (e.g., CrowdStrike, Defender) to monitor, isolate, and remediate endpoint threats.
5- Log Analysis & Incident Investigation: Ability to parse and interpret logs from firewalls, servers, and applications to detect indicators of compromise (IOCs).
6- Malware Analysis: Ability to conduct basic malware analysis, reverse engineering, and threat identification
