Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated Kitchen Commis / Junior Cook to support food preparation and kitchen operations at our distinguished luxury café in Riyadh. This developmental role provides hands-on culinary experience, skill refinement, and the opportunity to grow within a quality-focused kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items according to established recipes, specifications, and quality standards, working under the guidance of senior kitchen staff to ensure consistency and excellence.

Perform assigned food preparation tasks including washing, peeling, cutting, chopping, and portioning ingredients with proper knife skills, technique, and attention to food safety and hygiene standards.

Operate kitchen equipment safely and competently including ovens, grills, fryers, mixers, and food processors, following proper procedures and maintaining awareness of safety protocols at all times.

Support designated kitchen stations during service periods, assembling dishes, plating components, garnishing items, and ensuring timely preparation according to order specifications and presentation standards.

Prepare mise en place before service including measuring ingredients, preparing stocks and sauces, organizing station setup, and ensuring all elements are ready for efficient service execution.

Maintain organization and cleanliness of assigned work areas and stations throughout service, following proper food handling procedures, labeling protocols, and storage requirements.

Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards rigorously, including proper hand washing, temperature control, cross-contamination prevention, and compliance with health regulations.

Monitor food quality and freshness, checking ingredients before use, rotating stock according to FIFO principles, and reporting any quality concerns or discrepancies to senior kitchen staff immediately.

Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, checking items against orders, properly storing ingredients in appropriate conditions, and maintaining organized storage areas.

Actively develop culinary skills and knowledge by observing senior cooks, following instructions carefully, asking questions, practicing techniques, and demonstrating eagerness to learn and progress professionally.

Qualifications

Minimum 1-2 years of kitchen experience in restaurants, cafés, hotels, or food service establishments, with basic culinary skills and foundational knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.

Basic English comprehension for understanding instructions, recipes, and safety protocols required; Arabic language skills beneficial for team communication in a diverse kitchen environment.

Culinary training or vocational education preferred but not essential. Must demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, ability to follow instructions, physical stamina for standing and lifting, and genuine interest in culinary development and kitchen excellence.
