Quay Crane Operator (QC Operator)

Job Purpose:

Operate quay crane safely and efficiently to load and discharge containers in compliance with vessel plans, safety standards, and terminal operating procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

• Operate quay crane for loading and discharging containers as per vessel plan and supervisor instructions.
• Ensure containers are handled only after unlashing and twist-lock unlocking is completed.
• Coordinate with Vessel Supervisor, Hatchman, and Lashers for safe and accurate container positioning.
• Ensure safety of personnel during crane operations and hatch cover handling.
• Conduct pre-operational checks and routine inspections, complete checklists accurately.
• Secure, park, and anchor the crane during high wind conditions and after operations.
• Report equipment faults, vessel or container damage, accidents, and near-miss incidents.
• Maintain clear visibility and safe operations during poor weather or low visibility conditions.
• Hand over operational status and outstanding tasks to the next shift operator.
• Perform multi-operator duties and support training of new operators when required.
• Ensure full compliance with HSE policy, Safe Work Practices, and Fatal Risk Standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Quay Crane Operator.
• Valid HTV (Heavy Transport Vehicle) license.
• Port and container terminal experience preferred.
• QC operational certification from a recognized institute is an advantage.
• Additional QC operation approvals from port authorities are a plus.
