Job Purpose
The Server Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, performance, and reliability of the organization’s server infrastructure, virtualization platform, backup environment, and core IT services. This role ensures the availability of Windows servers, virtual machines, domain services, storage, backup jobs, and system recovery readiness in support of business continuity and secure operations.
Key Responsibilities
Server & Infrastructure Administration
• Administer and maintain physical and virtual server infrastructure across the organization.
• Manage Windows Server environments, including deployment, configuration, patching, health checks, and lifecycle management.
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, print services, and related infrastructure roles.
• Monitor server performance, capacity, event logs, and hardware health to ensure reliability.
Virtualization & Platform Management
• Support and manage virtualization environments, including VMware ESXi, vCenter, and virtual machine operations.
• Provision, configure, clone, migrate, and decommission virtual machines as required.
• Monitor host resource usage, datastore capacity, HA readiness, and virtualization performance.
• Coordinate planned upgrades, patching, and maintenance for hypervisors and virtual infrastructure.
Backup, Restore & Disaster Recovery
• Manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions, including backup scheduling, job monitoring, retention, and restore testing.
• Verify successful backups for critical servers, systems, and business data.
• Perform restore tests and maintain evidence of backup verification and recovery readiness.
• Support offsite replication, DR planning, and disaster recovery drills in coordination with management.
• Ensure backup and DR documentation is updated and aligned with business continuity objectives.
Security & Compliance
• Apply security hardening to servers based on company standards and cybersecurity requirements.
• Support endpoint/server protection, access control, patch compliance, and privileged access practices.
• Coordinate with cybersecurity and SOC teams for log collection, incident investigation, and vulnerability remediation.
• Support compliance with ISO 27001, NCA ECC, PDPL, and internal policies.
• Assist in access reviews, configuration reviews, and system audit preparation.
System Maintenance & Troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot server outages, authentication issues, replication issues, DNS/DHCP problems, performance degradation, storage issues, and backup failures.
• Investigate operating system errors, service failures, event log alerts, and resource constraints.
• Work with vendors and application teams to resolve issues affecting SAP, file services, identity services, or infrastructure-dependent applications.
• Perform preventive maintenance and maintain patch/update schedules.
Storage & Asset Coordination
• Support shared storage, NAS/SAN, and replication solutions as applicable.
• Monitor server inventory, warranties, licensing, capacity, and renewal requirements.
• Maintain records of hardware assets, operating systems, server roles, and installed business services.
Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate documentation for server inventory, system configurations, backup status, DR procedures, administrator access, and maintenance records.
• Prepare reports for infrastructure health, incidents, risks, backup status, and corrective actions.
• Support audit requests with evidence, screenshots, configuration exports, and technical explanations.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Relevant certifications preferred, such as Microsoft, VMware VCP, Veeam, or equivalent.
• 3–6+ years of experience in server and infrastructure administration.

Technical Skills
• Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi/vCenter or equivalent virtualization platforms.
• Good knowledge of backup and recovery systems, restore testing, and DR planning.
• Familiarity with server hardware, storage, RAID, iDRAC/remote management, and infrastructure monitoring.
• Understanding of server security hardening, patching, and access management.
