Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Product Development Engineer, a graduate in Chemical Engineering, with expertise in chemical formulations across a wide range of consumer products.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing formulations, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Scope of Expertise:
•Cosmetics — including makeup, creams, lotions, perfumes, and essential oils.
•Personal hygiene products — such as soaps, shampoos, deodorants, and toothpaste.
•Cleaning products — including laundry detergents and household cleaning solutions.
This role requires a strong understanding of chemistry, product stability, sensory evaluation, and innovation to create high-quality consumer products.
Key Responsibilities:
•Develop, test, and optimize formulations for cosmetics, personal hygiene, and cleaning products.
•Analyze and interpret chemical composition and ingredient interactions to ensure product efficacy, stability, and safety.
•Collaborate with marketing, quality assurance, and production teams to align product specifications with market trends and regulatory requirements.
•Conduct pilot trials, evaluate prototypes, and refine formulations based on sensory, stability, and performance testing.
•Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, new ingredients, technologies, and regulatory changes.
•Troubleshoot formulation issues, propose solutions, and ensure consistent product quality at scale.
•Prepare technical documentation, including formulation sheets, stability reports, and regulatory dossiers.
•Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO standards, and local and international regulations.
•Support cost optimization and sustainable product development initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
•Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Master’s degree preferred.
•Proven experience in formulating cosmetics, personal hygiene, and cleaning products.
•Strong knowledge of chemical compositions, surfactants, emulsifiers, preservatives, fragrance chemistry, and active ingredients.
•Familiarity with stability testing, quality control, and sensory evaluation.
•Understanding of regulatory requirements such as SFDA, FDA, and EU Cosmetic Regulation.
•Ability to interpret analytical data and product performance metrics.
•Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
•Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience with natural and organic formulations.
•Knowledge of sustainable and eco-friendly product development.
•Proficiency in R&D lab software and formulation management tools.
