Job Summary
The Mechanical Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing the procurement of all mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications, technical requirements, budget, and construction timelines. The role requires strong coordination with engineering, planning, and site teams to support uninterrupted project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Planning
Develop and implement procurement plans aligned with project schedules
Identify long-lead mechanical items (chillers, AHUs, pumps, firefighting systems)
Coordinate with planning and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery
Technical Evaluation
Review mechanical BOQs, specifications, and design drawings
Prepare RFQs and analyze supplier quotations
Conduct Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) and Commercial Bid Evaluations (CBE)
Ensure compliance with project standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SBC, etc.)
Supplier & Vendor Management
Source and prequalify mechanical suppliers and subcontractors
Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and contract terms
Maintain a reliable supplier database for HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting systems
Cost Control
Monitor procurement budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities
Benchmark market prices and conduct value engineering where applicable
Ensure procurement within approved budget limits
Procurement Process Management
Issue purchase orders and manage procurement documentation
Track material approvals, submittals, and delivery status
Coordinate with QA/QC for material inspection and approvals
Coordination
Coordinate with:
Mechanical design team
Technical office
Site engineers
Logistics team
Resolve technical and delivery-related issues proactively
Risk & Issue Management
Handle delays, material shortages, and supplier issues
Expedite urgent procurement items
Manage claims, returns, and replacement processes
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
7–12+ years in MEP procurement (preferably hospitality or mega projects)
Strong experience in:
HVAC systems
Plumbing systems
Firefighting systems
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of mechanical materials and specifications
Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical submittals
Familiar with standards: ASHRAE, NFPA, SBC
Experience in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
Preferred (Plus):
Experience in hotel or luxury hospitality projects
GCC / Saudi Arabia project experience
Familiarity with PIF / Red Sea / Diriyah projects
KPIs (Important for your project)
