Core Duties and Responsibilities
Surface Preparation: Cleaning, leveling, and waterproofing surfaces (e.g., concrete floors, walls) using mortar or cement backer board before installation.
Layout and Measurement: Measuring and marking surfaces, following blueprints or design patterns to ensure accurate alignment.
Tile Installation: Mixing and applying adhesives (mortar, mastic, glue) and setting tiles in place, utilizing spacers for uniform spacing.
Cutting and Shaping: Cutting tiles to fit around obstacles (e.g., pipes, outlets) using hand tools, wet saws, or tile cutters.
Grouting and Finishing: Filling joints between tiles with grout, removing excess grout, cleaning tiles, and applying sealant for water resistance.
Demolition: Removing old, cracked, or damaged tile, grout, and adhesive.
Quality Control: Leveling, straightening, and aligning tiles using levels, squares, and straightedges to ensure a flat, aesthetic finish.
Material Knowledge: Identifying different materials (ceramic, stone, porcelain) and using appropriate tools for each.
