An Extrusion Operator in the textile industry operates and monitors extrusion machines used to produce synthetic fibers, yarns, or filaments (such as polyester, nylon, or polypropylene). The role ensures smooth production of consistent, high-quality fibers used in textile manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Operate extrusion machines used for producing synthetic fibers or filament yarns
Load raw materials such as polymer chips, resins, or additives into the machine
Control and adjust machine settings like temperature, pressure, and spinning speed
Monitor fiber formation, thickness, and uniformity during production
Inspect output yarn or fibers for defects such as breakage, uneven thickness, or contamination
Ensure proper winding, cooling, and drawing of extruded fibers
Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of extrusion equipment
Record production data and report machine issues or quality problems
Follow safety guidelines and maintain cleanliness in the work area
Skills Required
Knowledge of textile machinery and fiber production process
Basic mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills
Attention to detail for maintaining yarn/fiber quality
Ability to work in shift-based production environments
Understanding of temperature and material flow control
Good observation and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
ITI / Diploma in Textile Technology, Mechanical, or related field (preferred)
Experience in textile manufacturing or fiber production is an advantage
On-the-job training may be provided in some factories
Work Environment
Textile manufacturing plant or fiber production unit
Exposure to heat, machinery noise, and continuous production lines
Shift work (day/night rotations) is common
