SENIOR RESIDENT - PAEDIATRIC EMERGENCY

Reports To: Consultant / Head of Paediatric Emergency Department

The Senior Resident in Paediatric Emergency is responsible for providing high-quality emergency medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. The role involves managing acute paediatric cases, supporting emergency interventions, and working closely with consultants and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, and manage paediatric emergency cases in a timely manner
Provide immediate care for critically ill or injured children
Perform emergency procedures such as airway management, IV access, and basic resuscitation
Assist consultants in managing complex paediatric emergency cases
Participate in triage and ensure appropriate prioritization of patients
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as required
Coordinate with paediatricians, nurses, and other departments for continuity of care
Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation
Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, clinical guidelines, and safety standards
Participate in on-call duties and shift rotations
Support quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits

Strong clinical knowledge in paediatrics and emergency medicine

Qualifications & Experience

MBBS or equivalent medical degree
Postgraduate training or residency in Paediatrics (MD/DNB or equivalent preferred)
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in paediatrics, preferably with exposure to emergency medicine
Experience in paediatric emergency or emergency department is highly preferred
Valid medical license as per country regulations

Additional Requirements

Willingness to work shifts, nights, and weekends
Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development
