Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Cable Installation & Joining: Installing new underground and overhead cables, and connecting them to substations, transformers, or customer premises.
Termination & Splicing: Preparing and connecting cable joints using resin kits or mechanical connectors, including specialized high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) work.
Fault Finding & Repairs: Locating, repairing, and replacing faulty or damaged cable joints, often involving trenching and working in confined spaces.
Testing & Inspection: Conducting insulation resistance, sheath integrity, and VLF (Very Low Frequency) testing to ensure the integrity of the power supply.
Safety Compliance: Abiding by strict safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and wearing required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to handle live electrical systems.
Site Management: Reading and interpreting electrical network plans, documenting work, and securing sites to ensure public safety.
