Job Purpose
To perform inspection, maintenance, repair, and replacement of tires for trucks and heavy vehicles, ensuring vehicle safety, roadworthiness, and operational readiness while minimizing tire-related breakdowns during trips.
Duties and Responsibilities
Inspect truck and heavy vehicle tires on a regular basis.
Repair punctures, cuts, and damages using appropriate tools and repair materials.
Remove and install tires and rims for heavy vehicles.
Replace damaged or expired tires when required.
Check and maintain proper tire air pressure according to vehicle type and load.
Perform tire balancing when necessary.
Inspect tread depth and ensure tires are fit for safe use.
Report any damage to rims or suspension parts related to tire issues.
Provide emergency roadside tire repair services when breakdowns occur.
Maintain workshop tools, air compressors, jacks, and lifting equipment.
Follow occupational health and safety procedures at all times.
Prepare regular reports on tire conditions for the direct supervisor.
Qualifications
Technical certificate or practical experience in truck tire repair and maintenance.
Good knowledge of heavy vehicle tire types and specifications.
Ability to use tire removal, installation, and lifting equipment.
Good physical fitness suitable for the nature of the job.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in truck or heavy equipment tire repair.
Experience in transport and logistics companies is preferred.
Skills
Tire puncture and damage repair.
Removal and installation of heavy vehicle tires.
Tire pressure and tread inspection.
Compliance with safety standards.
Ability to work under pressure and in field locations.
