# FIELD IT TECHNICIAN
## Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced **Field IT Technician** with strong hands-on expertise in IT installation, troubleshooting, networking, CCTV, fiber-optic systems, structured cabling, and site infrastructure.
The technician must be capable of independently performing **field installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and preventive maintenance** of IT and low-voltage systems.
**This is a hands-on field position and is NOT a System Administrator, System Engineer, or Network Engineer role.**
## Key Responsibilities
### 1\. IT Field Support & Installation
- Provide hands-on onsite IT technical support.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain IT equipment and peripherals.
- Install workstations, printers, monitors, and related IT equipment.
- Perform hardware diagnosis and replacement of faulty components.
- Install operating systems, drivers, and required applications.
- Troubleshoot workstation, printer, USB, display, power, and connectivity problems.
- Perform equipment relocation, replacement, upgrade, and commissioning.
### 2\. Network & Switching
- Install and troubleshoot network switches, PoE switches, access points, patch panels, and network equipment.
- Perform network troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot LAN connectivity, IP addressing, DHCP-related connectivity, ports, VLAN-related field issues, and physical-layer faults.
- Identify and troubleshoot faulty network cables, ports, connectors, patch cords, and switching equipment.
- Install and organize network racks, cabinets, patch panels, cable managers, and accessories.
- Perform switch port patching and physical network connections.
- Test and document network connections.
### 3\. UTP / Structured Cabling
- Install **Cat6 and Cat6A UTP/FTP structured cabling**.
- Pull, route, dress, label, terminate, and test network cables.
- Terminate cables on patch panels, keystone jacks, information outlets, and RJ45 connectors.
- Perform cable continuity and certification testing.
- Troubleshoot open circuits, shorts, crossed pairs, split pairs, high resistance, and other cabling faults.
- Maintain proper cable separation, routing, labeling, and cable management.
### 4\. Fiber Optic
- Install and route **fiber-optic cables**.
- Perform fiber termination, splicing, jointing, and patching.
- Work with fiber patch panels, ODFs, fiber enclosures, adapters, pigtails, and patch cords.
- Perform fiber testing using appropriate testing equipment.
- Troubleshoot fiber link loss, damaged fibers, dirty connectors, poor splices, and link failures.
- Perform fusion splicing where required.
- Identify and document fiber cores, routes, and termination points.
### 5\. CCTV / Security Surveillance
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain **IP CCTV systems**.
- Install IP cameras, NVRs, PoE switches, monitors, storage devices, and related equipment.
- Configure cameras and perform network configuration.
- Troubleshoot camera connectivity, video loss, PoE problems, recording issues, and network-related faults.
- Install and terminate CCTV UTP and fiber connections.
- Perform camera positioning, testing, focusing, and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot NVR/camera communication and recording problems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and replacement of faulty CCTV equipment.
### 6\. EMT / PVC Conduit & Cable Installation
- Install and route **EMT and PVC conduits** for IT, CCTV, network, and low-voltage cabling.
- Measure, cut, bend, install, and secure EMT conduit.
- Install PVC conduit, fittings, boxes, supports, and accessories.
- Perform cable pulling through conduits and cable pathways.
- Ensure proper routing, protection, support, labeling, and dressing of cables.
- Coordinate cable routes with site conditions and other trades.
### 7\. Racks, Cabinets & Infrastructure
- Install and organize network/server racks and cabinets.
- Install patch panels, switches, cable managers, PDUs, shelves, and related equipment.
- Perform rack dressing and cable management.
- Label equipment, ports, patch panels, and cables.
- Maintain proper equipment positioning and physical organization.
- Perform installation and replacement of rack-mounted equipment.
### 8\. Testing & Troubleshooting
- Perform systematic fault finding from the physical layer through the connected equipment.
- Use appropriate testing tools to identify cable, fiber, power, connectivity, and hardware faults.
- Conduct installation testing before handover.
- Diagnose faults and implement corrective actions.
- Verify systems after repair or installation.
- Record test results and maintain accurate field documentation.
### 9\. Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance for IT, CCTV, networking, fiber, and structured cabling systems.
- Inspect equipment, cables, connectors, racks, conduits, and termination points.
- Identify potential failures before they affect operations.
- Clean and maintain technical equipment and connections.
- Replace damaged or defective components when required.
### 10\. Site Work & Documentation
- Conduct site surveys and identify installation requirements.
- Read and work from drawings, layouts, cable schedules, and installation plans.
- Coordinate onsite activities with project/site teams.
- Prepare installation and troubleshooting reports.
- Maintain cable labels, port maps, equipment lists, and test documentation.
- Complete work orders and provide proper handover documentation.
- Follow site safety procedures and applicable installation standards.
