The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within plant. This includes ensuring compliance with food safety standards, minimizing downtime, and maintaining operational efficiency of processing lines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
Diagnose faults in motors, control panels, PLC systems, sensors, and automation lines.
Troubleshoot breakdowns in processing equipment such as:
Bowl choppers
Tumblers
Vacuum Filler
Mincer machine
Metal detectors
Conveyors
Packaging machines
Ensure quick restoration to minimize production downtime.
2. Installation & Commissioning
Install new electrical systems, machinery, and control panels.
Support commissioning of new production lines and upgrades.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts.
3. Preventive Maintenance (PM)
Execute scheduled PM activities as per maintenance plan.
Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and replacements.
Identify potential failures and implement corrective actions.
4. Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure all work complies with hygiene and food safety standards (e.g., HACCP).
Use food-grade materials and follow sanitary design practices.
Maintain IP-rated enclosures and proper cable management in washdown areas.
5. Safety & LOTO
Follow electrical safety standards and plant safety policies.
Implement and adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Ensure safe isolation of equipment before maintenance.
6. Utilities & Support Systems
Maintain electrical systems of:
Refrigeration units
Air compressors
Steam boilers (electrical controls)
HVAC systems
Monitor and troubleshoot power distribution systems.
7. Documentation & Reporting
Update maintenance logs and breakdown reports.
Maintain spare parts inventory for electrical components.
Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) of failures.
Qualifications
Education
Diploma / ITI / Technical Certification in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience
3–5 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
Experience in food or meat processing industry preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of:
Industrial wiring and control panels
Motors (AC/DC), VFDs, soft starters
PLC basics and troubleshooting
Electrical schematics reading
Familiarity with automation systems and instrumentation.
Soft Skills
Problem-solving and analytical thinking
Ability to work under pressure in breakdown situations
Good communication with production and maintenance teams
Working Conditions
Exposure to cold rooms, wet environments, and washdown areas
Shift work including nights and weekends
On-call support for breakdowns
Basic Salary: 1800 Food allowance: 200 overtime will be provided
