Position Summary
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of refrigeration and HVAC systems used in meat processing operations, including cold rooms, blast freezers, spiral freezers, chillers, evaporators, condensers, air handling units, and associated control systems. The role ensures continuous temperature control, food safety compliance, equipment reliability, and energy-efficient operation of refrigeration systems within the factory.
Key Responsibilities
Refrigeration & Freezer Maintenance
Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on:
Cold rooms
Freezers
Blast chillers and blast freezers
Spiral freezers
Refrigeration compressors
Condensing units
Evaporators
Cooling towers
Water chillers
Ice machines
Monitor and maintain refrigeration parameters including:
Suction pressure
Discharge pressure
Superheat
Subcooling
Compressor oil levels
Refrigerant charge
Troubleshoot temperature deviations and cooling inefficiencies.
Diagnose and repair refrigerant leaks, compressor faults, valve failures, sensor issues, and electrical/control problems.
Conduct defrost system inspections and maintenance.
HVAC System Responsibilities
Maintain HVAC systems in production areas, packaging rooms, laboratories, locker rooms, and utility areas.
Ensure proper air balance, ventilation, humidity control, and pressure differentials in hygienic processing areas.
Maintain:
AHUs
FCUs
Exhaust systems
Fresh air systems
Dehumidifiers
Air curtains
Monitor condensation issues and recommend corrective actions.
Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure refrigeration systems comply with food safety and hygiene standards.
Support HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, BRC, and internal audit requirements.
Maintain required temperature records and maintenance documentation.
Ensure all refrigerants, oils, and chemicals are handled safely and according to regulations.
Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.
Preventive Maintenance
Execute preventive maintenance schedules for refrigeration and HVAC systems.
Conduct inspections for:
Coil cleanliness
Fan motors
Bearings
Belts
Electrical connections
Insulation integrity
Drainage systems
Maintain spare parts inventory for critical refrigeration components.
Automation & Control Systems
Troubleshoot PLC-based refrigeration controls and temperature monitoring systems.
Calibrate:
Temperature sensors
Pressure transmitters
Controllers
Safety switches
Work with automation and electrical teams during system modifications and upgrades.
Safety Responsibilities
Follow all plant safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Handle refrigerants safely and prevent environmental release.
Respond immediately to refrigeration emergencies and freezer breakdowns.
Ensure safe operation of ammonia or Freon-based systems (if applicable).
Required Qualifications
Diploma / ITI / Technical Certification in HVAC, Refrigeration, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 3–5 years of industrial refrigeration experience, preferably in meat or food processing industries.
Strong knowledge of:
Industrial refrigeration systems
Cold room operations
Freezer systems
Refrigeration controls
Defrost systems
Compressor maintenance
Experience with ammonia and/or Freon refrigeration systems preferred.
Ability to read electrical and refrigeration schematics.
Required Skills
Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
Knowledge of food processing hygiene requirements.
Understanding of refrigeration cycles and thermodynamics.
Familiarity with PLC and control systems.
Good communication and reporting skills.
Ability to work under pressure during production breakdowns.
Preferred Experience
Experience in meat processing factories, poultry plants, or frozen food manufacturing facilities.
Experience with:
Spiral freezers
Smokehouses
Blast freezers
Refrigerated warehouses
Refrigeration compressor racks
Familiarity with energy-saving practices in refrigeration systems.
Working Conditions
Work in cold environments and freezer areas.
Availability for shift work, emergency calls, and weekend maintenance.
Exposure to industrial machinery, refrigeration gases, and wet processing environments.

Basic salary:1800 Food allowance: 200 Overtime will be provided.
