· Review and approve WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and welder certifications
· Verify base metals, filler metals, and fluxes match project requirements
· Check material heat numbers against Mill Test Reports (MTRs)
· Inspect joint fit-up: alignment, bevel angle, root gap, and tack welds
· Monitor welding parameters: amperage, voltage, travel speed, gas flow
· Check and record preheat and interpass temperatures
· Observe welding technique and interpass cleaning
· Ensure compliance with approved WPS at work
· Perform visual inspection for surface defects (cracks, porosity, undercut, lack of fusion)
· Interpret NDT results (UT, RT, MT, PT)
· Measure weld dimensions: reinforcement height, fillet leg length
· Verify post-weld heat treatment if required
· Maintain daily inspection logs and weld maps
· Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for defects
· Track corrective actions and rework
· Compile final quality dossier for project handover
· Exercise stop-work authority for unsafe or non-compliant work
