Job Summary
A highly experienced Sr. Field Technician responsible for executing, supervising, and supporting advanced electrical and instrumentation works on industrial and commercial projects. Provides technical expertise in field installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and instrumentation equipment. Supports project estimation efforts by conducting site surveys, preparing material take-offs, and contributing to cost analysis. Ensures all work is carried out in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and client requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Installing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining electrical systems including panels, switchgear, cables, and distribution boards.
• Installing, calibrating, and troubleshooting instrumentation equipment such as transmitters, sensors, flow meters, analyzers, and control valves.
• Conducting site surveys and field measurements to support accurate project cost estimation and material take-offs.
• Assisting the estimation team by providing field-level input on labor hours, material quantities, and installation methods.
• Reading and interpreting electrical single-line diagrams, loop diagrams, P&IDs, instrument data sheets, and wiring schematics.
• Performing loop checks, functional testing, and pre-commissioning activities on instrumentation and control systems.
• Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving electrical and instrumentation faults efficiently on-site.
• Coordinating with project engineers, site supervisors, and client representatives during execution and commissioning phases.
• Preparing daily field reports, as-built markups, inspection records, and punch list documentation.
• Ensuring strict compliance with HSE regulations, permit-to-work systems, and site safety procedures.
• Mentoring and guiding junior technicians and field crew members.
• Managing tools, test equipment, and material logistics on-site.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Credentials)
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or related technical field

Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical and instrumentation field work, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead technician role

Licenses/Certifications: Relevant trade certifications (e.g., ISA CCST, CompEx, or equivalent electrical/instrumentation certification) preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
• In-depth knowledge of electrical installation practices including HV/LV systems, motor control centers (MCCs), and earthing/grounding systems.
• Strong expertise in instrumentation technologies: pressure, temperature, level, and flow measurement devices.
• Solid understanding of estimation principles: material take-offs, labor productivity rates, and field cost analysis.
• Proficiency in reading and working with electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and cause & effect charts.
• Hands-on experience with HART communicators, multimeters, loop calibrators, and other field test equipment.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (4-20mA, HART, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus).
• Familiarity with safety systems, ESD, and fire & gas detection systems.
• Strong understanding of HSE standards, OSHA/NEBOSH regulations, and permit-to-work procedures.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.
• Strong leadership, coordination, and team management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality of workmanship.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and client interaction.
• AutoCAD (basic reading and as-built markups).
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
