Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, priming, and applying body filler as needed.
2. Mix and match paint colors accurately using computerized color-matching systems.
3. Apply basecoat, clear coat, and specialty finishes using HVLP spray guns and other painting equipment.
4. Perform wet sanding, buffing, and polishing to achieve a flawless, high-gloss finish.
5. Inspect painted surfaces for defects (runs, orange peel, dust, etc.) and perform touch-ups or rework when necessary.
6. Work closely with body technicians to ensure proper repair and preparation before painting.
7. Maintain paint booth, spray guns, and mixing equipment in clean and proper working condition.
8. Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE (respirators, suits, gloves) and hazardous material handling.
9. Document work performed and communicate with service advisors or customers regarding color matching and finish expectations.
10. Stay updated on new paint technologies, products, and industry standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
1. Proven experience as an Automotive Painter (2+ years preferred).
2. Strong knowledge of modern automotive paint systems (solvent-based, waterborne, urethane, etc.).
3. Ability to color match and blend paints effectively on adjacent panels.
4. Experience with custom painting, graphics, or specialty finishes is a plus.
5. Familiarity with industry tools and equipment (paint booths, mixing banks, spray guns, infrared curing lamps).
6. Physical ability to stand for long periods, bend, lift, and work in various positions.

Education & Certifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Vocational training or certification in Auto Body Repair/Painting preferred.
3. I-CAR, ASE, or manufacturer-specific paint certifications are highly desirable.
