Field/ Specialization: Biostatistics
Roles and Responsibility:
1.Coordinate and teach the Biostatistics course for undergraduate students (Year 1) and contribute to teaching research methodology and epidemiology in other years of the medical curriculum.
2.Provide statistical supervision and consultation for community research projects (Years 3 and 4) and for research in postgraduate programs.
3.Lead biostatistics teaching, supervision, and assessment components in postgraduate programs, including study design, sample size calculation, and data analysis workshops.
4.Provide statistical consultation to faculty members, postgraduate students, and external partners in study design, data analysis, and results reporting.
5.Conduct and publish methodological and applied research in biostatistics in indexed peer-reviewed journals, independently and in collaboration with colleagues in clinical and public health fields.
6. Participate in departmental and college committees (research, examinations, curriculum, accreditation) and contribute to the quantitative methods component in academic accreditation activities.
Qualifications:
1.PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics (with biomedical applications), or Epidemiology with strong quantitative training.
2.Documented experience in teaching biostatistics or research methodology, preferably within a College of Medicine or Health Sciences.
3.Advanced proficiency in major statistical software (SPSS, R, Stata; SAS preferred), including the use of SPSS, which is currently adopted by the department for teaching biostatistics.
4.Publications in indexed peer-reviewed journals applying biostatistical methods to health and biomedical data.
5.Documented experience in study design, sample size calculation, and providing statistical consultation in clinical or community-based research.
6. For appointment at the Associate Professor level: a sustained record of independent publications, supervision of postgraduate students, and academic leadership experience in line with the promotion criteria of the campus.
