A steel fixer is a skilled tradesperson who positions and secures steel reinforcing bars (rebar) and steel mesh used to reinforce concrete. They play a vital role in the construction industry by ensuring buildings and infrastructure have the necessary structural strength and durability.
Core Responsibilities
• Reading Blueprints: Analyzing engineering drawings to determine exactly what type of bar, spacing, and materials are required.
• Cutting & Bending: Using hand and power tools to cut rebar to size and bend it into the correct shapes.
• Positioning & Tying: Joining rebar together with wire and securing it in place with clips, spacers, and supports before concrete is poured.

Work Environment & Qualifications
Physical Demands: It is a physically demanding outdoor role that often requires working at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Certifications: Tradespeople typically need to complete trade tests (such as blueprint reading and practical steel-fixing tests) and possess relevant vocational certificates.
• Safety Gear: Because of the hazards on-site, steel fixers must strictly adhere to safety rules and wear appropriate PPE like hard hats, safety boots, and gloves.
• Duty: 8 Hours + Overtime
• Weekly one day off.
• Salary BHD120.000 + Overtime.
• Benefits: Often includes accommodation, transport and visa provided by the company.
• Contract: Frequently 2-year contracts, including paid leave.
