Job Summary
The Low Current Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of low-current systems, including CCTV, access control, fire alarm, public address (PA), structured cabling, intrusion detection, and other security and communication systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain low-current systems and equipment.
- Perform testing and commissioning of CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, PA, and Structured
Cabling systems.
- Troubleshoot and rectify faults in low-current systems.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Ensure all installations comply with project specifications and safety standards.
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and clients during project execution.
- Prepare maintenance reports and service records.
- Support system upgrades, modifications, and expansions.
- Ensure proper documentation and inventory management of tools and materials.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of CCTV systems (IP and Analog).
- Experience with Access Control and Time Attendance Systems.
- Understanding of Fire Alarm Systems and relevant standards.
- Familiarity with Structured Cabling (Cat6, Fiber Optic).
- Ability to use testing and diagnostic tools.
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, switches, routers).
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Technical Certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a
related field.
- Relevant certifications in CCTV, Fire Alarm, or Security Systems are preferred.
Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in low-current systems.
Preferred Experience
- CCTV (Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Bosch)
- Access Control (HID, Suprema, Honeywell)
- Fire Alarm Systems (Notifier, Siemens, Edwards, Honeywell)
- Structured Cabling and Fiber Optic Termination
- Building Management Systems (BMS) integration
