Fleet Reliability Eng. (Buses, Trucks & Heavy Vehicles )

Fleet Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving the reliability, availability, safety, and performance of the company’s buses, trucks, trailers, and heavy vehicles. The role focuses on reducing repeated failures, downtime, accidents, repair costs, and operational disruptions through data analysis, root cause investigation, preventive actions, and coordination between Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Workshop, and Fleet Control teams.


Key Responsibilities
Fleet Reliability & Performance
• Monitor the reliability and performance of buses, trucks, trailers, and heavy vehicles.
• Identify repeated breakdowns, technical failures, accident trends, and high-cost units.
• Track vehicle downtime and ensure clear action plans to return units to service quickly.
• Analyze fleet availability and recommend improvements to increase operational readiness.
• Prepare weekly and monthly fleet reliability reports for management.


Downtime & Repair Cost Control
• Track downtime for each vehicle and identify the main causes.
• Monitor repair costs by vehicle, failure category, workshop, and repeated issue.
• Highlight buses and trucks with high maintenance cost or repeated issues.
• Work with Maintenance and Workshop teams to reduce repair time and improve turnaround.
• Recommend whether units should be repaired, replaced, overhauled, or removed from operation.


Root Cause Analysis
• Investigate repeated mechanical, electrical, safety, and operational failures.
• Conduct root cause analysis for major breakdowns, repeated accidents, and high-cost repairs.
• Review maintenance history, driver reports, accident reports, dashcam footage, GPS/telematics data, and workshop findings when required.
• Prepare corrective and preventive action plans to avoid repeated incidents.


Preventive Maintenance
• Review preventive maintenance schedules for buses, trucks, trailers, and heavy vehicles.
• Ensure maintenance intervals are suitable for the actual operating conditions in Saudi Arabia.
• Monitor preventive maintenance compliance and report missed or delayed services.
• Recommend improvements to maintenance plans based on breakdown history and operating conditions.
• Coordinate with Workshop and Operations to reduce service delays and vehicle downtime.

Safety & Accident Trend Analysis
• Analyze accident frequency by driver, vehicle, location, route, time, and cause.
• Coordinate with Safety and Operations to identify repeated accident patterns.
• Support the use of real accident cases, dashcam footage, and pictures in driver training programs.
• Recommend technical, operational, or training actions to reduce accidents, damage, and repeat incidents.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance, fleet reliability, or heavy vehicle operations.
• Experience with buses, trucks, trailers, cargo fleet, passenger transportation, or heavy vehicles is required.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, air systems, suspension, steering, electrical systems, AC systems, tires, and batteries.
• Strong experience in fleet reporting, downtime analysis, maintenance planning, and failure tracking.
• Good understanding of Saudi transport operations, workshop environment, and heavy vehicle working conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in passenger transport, school buses, staff transportation, cargo, logistics, or heavy trucking.
• Experience with fleet management systems, GPS/telematics, dashcams, diagnostic tools, and maintenance software.
• Training in Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys, Lean Six Sigma, fleet maintenance management, or accident investigation.
• OEM training or experience with brands such as MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Scania, Hino, Isuzu, Shacman, Sinotruk, or similar.
• Power BI knowledge is preferred.




Required Skills
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Ability to identify repeated problems and propose practical solutions.
• Strong coordination between Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Workshop, and Fleet Control teams.
• Good understanding of driver-related damage and operational abuse.
• Advanced Excel skills; Power BI is preferred.
• Ability to prepare clear management reports and dashboards.
• Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure in daily fleet operations.
