Core Responsibilities
• Measuring & Cutting: Take accurate body measurements and draft or trace patterns onto fabrics.
• Stitching: Assemble, sew, and finish Thobes using both sewing machines and hand-stitching techniques.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished garments to ensure correct sizing, straight seams, and flawless collars and cuffs.
• Alterations: Perform fittings on clients and make necessary adjustments for a perfect fit.
• Maintenance: Keep sewing equipment clean, oiled, and in good working order.
Key Requirements
• Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience, specifically in Arabic/Gulf tailoring.
• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of various fabrics (cotton, linen, polyester blends), thread tension, and needle types.
• Attention to Detail: Precision in aligning buttons, pockets, and hems.
Typical Working Conditions
• Environment: Usually a dedicated tailor shop, boutique, or textile company.
• Compensation: Varies by region; current postings in the Gulf region (Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar) range from BHD150 - 200 monthly.
• Duty Hours: Standard 10 hour shifts depending on the employer.
• Off: Weekly one day.
