Job Responsibilities
Preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of mechanical systems
associated with polymer processing and testing equipment, including extruders, injection
molding machines, blow molding machines, blown film and cast film lines, compounding
and pelletizing lines, sheet and composite lines, rubber presses, pipe testing systems, and
associated auxiliaries.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
6.1. Mechanical Safety & Compliance (Mandatory)
- Mechanical isolation, stored energy release, LOTO application
- Safe work around rotating equipment, hot surfaces, pressure systems
- Understanding of mechanical drawings, GA drawings, and layouts
- Awareness of lifting, rigging, and safe manual handling
6.2. Rotating Equipment & Power Transmission
- Gearboxes, couplings, belts, chains, pulleys
- Alignment basics (shaft, coupling)
- Bearing types, lubrication practices, failure modes
- Vibration awareness and abnormal noise identification
6.3. Polymer Processing Machine Mechanics
- Screw and barrel assemblies (extruders)
- Die heads, screen changers, melt pumps
- Injection molding clamp units, tie bars, platens
- Blow molding units, accumulators, parisons
- Film line rollers, nip units, winders
6.4. Hydraulics & Pneumatics
- Hydraulic power units, pumps, valves, cylinders
- Pressure and flow control concepts
- Pneumatic FRLs, valves, actuators, air preparation units
- Hose, seal, and leak troubleshooting
6.5. Heating, Cooling & Utilities (Mechanical Side)
- Cooling water circuits, chillers (mechanical interface)
- Heat exchangers, piping, valves
- Dryers, loaders, vacuum systems (mechanical parts)
- Compressors (mechanical components only)
6.6. Assembly, Overhauling & Installation
- Mechanical dismantling and assembly
- Overhauling of gearboxes, pumps, and rotating equipment
- Installation and alignment of machines and auxiliaries
- Torque tightening and fastener management
6.7. Troubleshooting Discipline & Documentation
- Structured fault finding and root cause analysis
- SAP PM documentation (failure, cause, action)
- Preparing information for OEM mechanical support
6.8. Polymer Processing Familiarity
- Understanding normal mechanical behavior of polymer machines
- Typical mechanical alarms and failure symptoms
- Interface with auxiliaries such as dryers, chillers, compressors

7. OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute PM and CM activities, respond to breakdowns, record work in SAP PM, support
commissioning and handover, update mechanical SOPs/SMPs, coordinate with OEMs and
internal teams, and maintain housekeeping and asset protection
