Job Description: Civil Engineer (Steel Structures, Factory
& Warehouse Projects, Estimation & Costing)
Summary
A highly skilled Civil Engineer with strong expertise in steel structural works, including
factory buildings, warehouses, industrial sheds, and heavy-duty steel structures.
Experienced in estimation, costing, BOQ preparation, material take-offs, and project
execution. Proven ability to manage site activities, coordinate with contractors, and ensure
compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare cost estimates, BOQs, and detailed material take-offs for steel structural
projects.
• Review structural drawings, fabrication drawings, GA drawings, and project
specifications.
• Supervise construction of steel structures, including columns, rafters, trusses,
purlins, mezzanine floors, and cladding works.
• Oversee factory and warehouse construction, including foundations, anchor bolts,
concrete works, and steel erection.
• Coordinate with fabricators, suppliers, and subcontractors for quotations, technical
submittals, and material procurement.
• Verify welding quality, bolt tightening, alignment, and erection tolerances as per
standards.
• Prepare tender documents, comparison sheets, and pricing summaries.
• Conduct site inspections, progress monitoring, and quality control checks.
• Ensure compliance with AISC, ASTM, SBC, and project-specific standards.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams for integrated project
delivery.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through optimized material selection and
construction methods.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of steel structures, PEB systems, and industrial building design.
• Expertise in estimation, costing, tendering, and BOQ preparation.
• Proficiency in reading structural drawings, fabrication details, and erection plans.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, STAAD, Tekla (basic), MS Excel, and estimation tools.
• Understanding of welding procedures, NDT requirements, and steel erection safety.
• Strong analytical, communication, and site management skills.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in steel structural projects, factories, warehouses, or
industrial construction with experience in contracting or EPC companies is preferred.
