The General Purpose Rating (GP Rating) programme consist of a six months pre sea training course approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (Government of India). On successful completion of this course, the candidates will be eligible to join in Indian/Foreign Shipping companies as a Deck/Engine crew.
During their training period they will learn about various aspects of marine life including swimming, physical drills, workshop training, rope and mast climbing, usage of life-saving appliances, firefighting exercises, ship visits, etc.
After the training, final external examinations are conducted by the Board of Examination of Seafarers (BES) under D.G. Shipping (Govt of India). This course is strictly residential.
Eligibility
Educational Qualification :
Education Qualification: 10th pass with aggregate 40% and 40% in English from a recognized board with Mathematics & Science.
Age Limit :
17.6 to 25 years
Medical Examination :
Eyesight Standard :Minimum unaided vision- 6/6 with normal colour vision.
Physical Requirement :Medically fit as per the M.S (Medical Examination of seafarer) rules 2000 as amended from time to time and also as per the D G Shipping Guidelines
