KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Monitor all hot work activities continuously and maintain a clear.
•Ensure all combustible/flammable materials within or near the hot work zone are removed, shielded, or otherwise protected to prevent ignition.
•Verify that Hot Work Permits are valid, approved, and properly posted on site before work begins, and ensure all permit conditions are followed.
•Maintain readiness with appropriate firefighting equipment, ensuring it is fully functional, accessible, and suitable for the type of hot work being performed.
•Activate/operate firefighting equipment as required, while waiting for ERT to arrive.
•Detect sparks, slag, heat, or smoldering materials and take immediate action to extinguish small fires when safe, while promptly raising alarms for any escalating hazards.
•Stop hot work immediately when unsafe conditions or permit deviations are identified and escalate to the Task Supervisor and/or HSE without delay. Exercise stop-work authority in line with IMI requirements.
•Maintain continuous presence and remain at assigned work location and/or on vessel/rig while at IMI facility.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or vocational certificate (minimum).
OSHA 30 (preferred).
•NEBOSH HSW (preferred).
•Hot Work / Fire Watch Training (mandatory).
•Basic Firefighting Training.
•First Aid & CPR (advantage
•Ensure fire watch duties are not interrupted by any secondary tasks and always maintain effective communication with workers and emergency responders.
•Support safe access, housekeeping, and hazard control around the hot work area, ensuring pathways are clear and ignition risks are minimized.
Competencies
Knowledge of hot work hazards, fire behavior, and ignition sources.
•Ability to use fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment safely.
•Strong situational awareness and hazard recognition skills.
•Ability to communicate clearly and act quickly in emergencies.
•Understanding of IMI Hot Work Permit requirements.
•Physically fit for field-based work: able to stand/walk for extended periods, work in heat and industrial environments, and wear required PPE/respiratory protection as applicable.
•Understanding of IMI Hot Work Permit requirements.
•Adhere to IMI working hour requirements and assigned weekly schedules (regular or shift-based) and spend 100% of working hours in the field. Complete fire watchman related documentation and other safety tasks assigned by the direct supervisor only where they do not interrupt fire watchman coverage.
Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial or shipyard environments (preferred).
•Previous experience as Fire Watch or similar safety role is an advantage.
