A commissioning technician tests, starts up, and troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, or HVAC systems to ensure they operate safely and meet design specifications. Core duties include performing system inspections, running diagnostic tests, and documenting performance data.
Key Responsibilities
• System Testing: Run start-up checks, functional performance tests, and calibration on equipment like HVAC units, electrical panels, or pumps.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, or control system faults.
• Data Recording: Document test results, measure performance metrics, and complete checklist forms.
• Safety Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols, job safety analyses (JSAs), and permit-to-work rules on site.
Requirements and Qualifications
• Education: A vocational diploma or 2-year degree in electrical, mechanical, or refrigeration and air conditioning.
• Experience: Typically, 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in equipment installation, testing, or system startup.
• Skills: Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and P&ID diagrams, plus proficiency with diagnostic tools like mustimeters.
• 8 hours’ duty.
• Weekly day off.
• Salary depending on experience.
