An erection technician assembles, installs, and aligns heavy equipment, structural components, or industrial systems on-site. Key duties include interpreting technical blueprints, operating rigging machinery, and ensuring structural safety compliance.
Core Responsibilities
• Installation & Assembly: Set up, align, and anchor mechanical parts, steel frameworks, or specialized heavy systems (such as lifts or cranes) according to blueprints and schematic layouts.
• Technical Diagnostics: Use precision tools and measuring equipment to level, calibrate, and test newly installed machinery for performance accuracy.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) rules, utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and manage high-risk tasks like working at heights.
• Team Coordination: Work alongside project engineers, general contractors, and other trade crews to maintain smooth daily workflows.
Key Requirements
• Education: High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational training or ITI certification in a relevant mechanical or industrial field.
• Experience: 1 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in structural steel erection, mechanical fitting, or heavy equipment installation.
• Skills: Strong ability to read complex technical drawings and blueprints; proficiency with power tools, rigging equipment, and diagnostic devices.
• Physical Fitness: High physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy parts (up to 50 lbs), bend, kneel, and safely work at significant heights or on scaffolding.
• 8 hours’ duty.
• Weekly day off.
