Converting organic acid salts such as sodium lactate, sodium citrate, and sodium acetate into their free acid form typically requires chemical acidification, which introduces impurities and generates salt waste. Bipolar Electrodialysis (EDBM) eliminates both problems by splitting salts electrochemically into the target acid and a usable alkali stream at the same time.
