Position Overview:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives. This role ensures efficient execution of the production plan while driving operational excellence, people development, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing area.
The Production Supervisor leads shift teams, manages production resources, resolves operational issues, and ensures adherence to standardized manufacturing processes. Working closely with Process Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and EHS teams, the supervisor drives sustainable improvements in productivity, equipment performance, product quality, and employee engagement.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Automotive OEMs, Tier 1/Tier 2/Tier 3 suppliers, or other high-volume continuous manufacturing environments. (Fabrication industry not preferred)
Duties & Responsibilities:
Production Management
- Supervise daily production activities to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets.
- Execute production plans while ensuring optimum utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials.
- Monitor production performance and respond promptly to operational issues.
- Ensure adherence to standardized work, production procedures, and operating instructions.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Warehouse teams to resolve material shortages and production constraints.
- Lead daily production meetings and effective shift handovers.
- Must be flexible to work overtime and different shifts
Production Documentation
- Prepare and maintain daily production reports, shift reports, and manufacturing records.
- Ensure production documents, SOPs, work instructions, check sheets, and logbooks are accurately completed and updated.
- Maintain production KPIs and support preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with document control requirements and manufacturing standards.
Operational Excellence
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Improve OEE, productivity, process efficiency, and equipment utilization.
- Reduce waste, downtime, and production losses.
- Support implementation of manufacturing best practices and operational standards.
Problem Solving
- Lead structured problem solving using 8D, PDCA, A3, 5 Why, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Support troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, automation, and process-related issues.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Drive closure of daily production concerns and recurring manufacturing issues.
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop production operators and team leaders.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and employee engagement.
- Conduct on-the-job training and ensure competency development.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Quality, Safety & Equipment
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management System and EHS requirements.
- Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Support preventive maintenance activities and maximize equipment availability.
- Monitor production KPIs and drive actions to achieve operational targets.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechatronics Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
Experience:
- 4-7 years of experience in Production supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of production systems, manufacturing processes, and shop floor management.
Skills
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Good knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
- Excellent systematic problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis skills.
- Practical understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to manage daily production challenges and drive sustainable improvements.
- Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Computer literacy and experience with ERP/MES systems is preferred.
- Good verbal and written English.
