The department covers Plant Breeding and Genetics, Plant Biotechnology, and Seed Science & Technology. Students receive hands-on training in crop breeding techniques, floral biology, hybridization, tissue culture, micro-propagation, DNA isolation, PCR, seed quality testing, seed germination and genetic purity analysis.
The programme provides practical exposure to crops including rice, maize, sorghum, ragi, pulses, cotton, sunflower, tomato, chilli and other important agricultural crops.
