Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Specialist – Glass Manufacturing
Role Overview
The Quality Control Specialist ensures all raw materials, in-process glass products, and finished goods meet strict industry standards, visual aesthetics, and customer specifications. This role involves performing rigorous physical inspections, stress testing, and optical evaluations to minimize defects and maintain compliance with safety and quality protocols.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspection & Testing: Conduct visual, dimensional, and structural checks on float glass, tempered glass, laminated glass, or insulated units (IGUs).
* Defect Identification: Detect and categorize glass flaws, including seeds, bubbles, stones, scratches, distortion, and edge chips.
* Process Monitoring: Audit manufacturing lines—including cutting, edging, washing, tempering, and lamination—to ensure equipment calibration and process parameters remain within tolerance.
* Testing & Measurement: Operate specialized laboratory tools such as polariscopes (for stress/strain measurement), thickness gauges, spectrophotometers, and impact-testing equipment.
* Compliance & Documentation: Maintain detailed inspection logs, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and ensure adherence to ISO, ASTM, or SGCC standards.
* Root Cause Analysis: Partner with production teams to investigate defect trends, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications & Skills
* Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Materials Science, or Engineering preferred.
* Experience: 2+ years of QC experience in glass manufacturing, industrial processing, or advanced materials.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, optical gauges) and reading technical drawings/blueprints.
* Key Attributes: Sharp visual acuity, high attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and familiarity with statistical process control (SPC).
