# PRODUCTION & INSTALLATION ENGINEER / SUPERVISOR – METAL WORKS

## Job Purpose

NDIC is seeking a highly practical and experienced **Production & Installation Engineer / Supervisor** capable of managing fabrication activities inside the factory and installation works at project sites.

The candidate must have strong hands-on knowledge of **steel, stainless steel and aluminum fabrication**, excellent **AutoCAD** skills, and the ability to convert approved drawings into accurate fabrication and installation activities.

This is a **production and site-oriented position**, not a purely office-based engineering role. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with fabricators, welders, CNC operators, installation teams, project engineers and the technical office to ensure that products are manufactured correctly, installed accurately and delivered on schedule.

## Key Responsibilities

### 1. Factory Production & Fabrication

* Plan and supervise daily production activities for steel, stainless steel and aluminum works.
* Convert approved shop drawings into clear fabrication instructions for workshop teams.
* Review dimensions, sections, materials, welding details, tolerances and finishes before starting fabrication.
* Prepare and/or review fabrication drawings using **AutoCAD**.
* Prepare cutting lists, material lists and production requirements.
* Coordinate production between:

* CNC laser cutting
* CNC bending
* MIG welding
* TIG welding
* Laser welding
* Grinding and polishing
* Stainless steel finishing
* Aluminum fabrication
* Powder coating/painting
* Assembly and packaging
* Allocate manpower according to production priorities.
* Monitor production productivity and ensure that fabrication targets are achieved.
* Minimize material wastage, unnecessary rework and excessive fabrication hours.
* Verify finished dimensions before products are released for delivery or installation.

### 2. Steel Fabrication Expertise

Candidate should have practical knowledge of fabrication involving:

* Mild steel sheets and plates
* SHS, RHS and CHS
* Angles, channels and flat bars
* Steel doors and frames
* Gates and fences
* Bollards
* Handrails
* Access ladders and hatches
* Canopies
* Gratings and trench covers
* Platforms and miscellaneous structural steel
* Architectural metal works

Must understand:

* Cutting
* Drilling
* Laser cutting
* Bending
* Rolling
* MIG welding
* Joint preparation
* Grinding
* Surface preparation
* Painting
* Powder coating
* Assembly and installation

### 3. Stainless Steel Expertise

Must have good practical knowledge of:

* Stainless steel 304 and 316
* Stainless steel sheets, pipes and profiles
* TIG and laser welding
* Stainless steel handrails
* Glass handrails
* Decorative stainless steel
* Grinding and polishing
* Hairline and mirror finishes
* Weld cleaning and finishing
* Protection of finished stainless surfaces during fabrication and installation

The candidate must understand how to achieve **high-quality architectural finishes without visible welding defects, excessive grinding marks or damage to finished surfaces**.

### 4. Aluminum Fabrication

The candidate should understand:

* Aluminum sheets
* Aluminum profiles and tubes
* Aluminum doors and frames
* Aluminum cladding
* Architectural aluminum works
* Aluminum cutting and fabrication
* TIG AC welding
* MIG aluminum welding
* Laser welding where applicable
* Mechanical connections
* Grinding and finishing
* Protection of finished aluminum surfaces

Experience with **aluminum and glass systems** will be considered a strong advantage.

### 5. AutoCAD & Technical Drawing

The candidate must be proficient in **AutoCAD** and capable of:

* Reading architectural and structural drawings.
* Reading consultant-approved shop drawings.
* Preparing fabrication drawings.
* Preparing installation drawings.
* Producing plans, elevations, sections and details.
* Preparing connection and fixing details.
* Checking dimensions before fabrication.
* Preparing site measurement sketches.
* Modifying drawings based on actual site conditions.
* Preparing as-built information where required.
* Identifying drawing discrepancies before production begins.

The candidate must be able to explain drawings clearly to technicians and fabricators.

## 6. Site Measurement

The Engineer/Supervisor will be responsible for:

* Visiting project sites before fabrication when required.
* Taking accurate site measurements.
* Checking openings, levels, dimensions and reference points.
* Confirming actual site conditions against approved drawings.
* Identifying clashes and installation constraints.
* Coordinating with civil, MEP, façade and finishing contractors where required.
* Preparing clear measurement sketches and transferring site information into AutoCAD.
* Ensuring that products are not fabricated based on incorrect or unverified dimensions.

## 7. Installation & Site Supervision

The candidate must be capable of independently supervising NDIC installation teams.

Responsibilities include:

* Planning daily installation activities.
* Preparing manpower, tools, equipment and material requirements.
* Checking installation locations before mobilization.
* Coordinating material delivery with factory production.
* Supervising unloading, handling and storage.
* Setting out installation positions.
* Checking line, level, plumb and alignment.
* Supervising drilling, anchors and mechanical fixing.
* Supervising site welding where required.
* Ensuring correct installation according to approved drawings.
* Coordinating access equipment, scaffolding, manlifts and cranes where necessary.
* Monitoring installation productivity.
* Preparing punch lists and closing outstanding works.
* Protecting finished works until final handover.

## 8. Site Coordination

The candidate should be comfortable dealing directly with:

* Main contractors
* Consultants
* Client representatives
* Site engineers
* QA/QC engineers
* Safety officers
* Civil teams
* MEP teams
* Other subcontractors

The Engineer/Supervisor must identify site problems early and coordinate solutions without unnecessarily stopping production or installation.

## 9. Quality Control

The candidate will be responsible for checking quality throughout fabrication and installation.

Checks should include:

* Material type and thickness
* Dimensions
* Cutting accuracy
* Bending accuracy
* Welding quality
* Grinding and finishing
* Hole positions
* Connections
* Hardware
* Surface treatment
* Powder coating/pa
