Indian Methanol Prices

Methanol has recovered strongly from the lower levels recorded earlier this month. Indian Methanol prices rose to Rs 54.50/kg this week from Rs 51.25/kg last week, producing a weekly increase of Rs 3.25/kg. The fortnightly movement is considerably larger, with prices gaining Rs 8.50/kg from the Rs 46.00/kg level seen two weeks earlier. The broader comparisons remain mixed. Methanol is still Rs 5.00/kg below the Rs 59.50/kg level recorded four weeks ago and Rs 18.50/kg below the Rs 73.00/kg level seen three months earlier. Indian Methanol prices are nevertheless substantially above the six-month reference of Rs 30.25/kg, representing an increase of Rs 24.25/kg over that period. The annual range stretches from Rs 28.50/kg at the low end to Rs 79.00/kg at the high end, with the current price positioned between those extremes.
