Job Purpose
The Crew Supervisor oversees daily field operations, managing site technicians, painters, blasters, and general labor crews. This role ensures tasks are executed safely, on schedule, within scope, and in strict compliance with client specifications (e.g., Saudi Aramco, SABIC) and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Site Work Management & Daily Operations
Task Allocation: Direct daily work assignments for crew members based on project schedules and skill sets.
On-Site Execution: Supervise surface preparation (grid/abrasive blasting) and protective coating application (APCS systems, spray painting, industrial coatings).
Progress Tracking: Monitor daily output, ensure milestones are met, and report production figures to the Site Manager.
Equipment & Material Control: Ensure machinery (compressors, spray pumps, blasting pots) and raw materials are used efficiently, maintained properly, and secured after shifts.
2. Health, Safety, & Environment (HSE)
Toolbox Talks: Conduct mandatory daily safety toolbox meetings prior to work initiation.
PPE Enforcement: Ensure all workers strictly adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and site safety regulations.
Risk Assessment: Identify on-site hazards, enforce Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and maintain compliance with client HSE guidelines.
Permit to Work (PTW): Ensure necessary work permits (hot work, cold work, confined space) are obtained and active before work starts.
3. Quality Control (QC) Support
Specification Compliance: Inspect ongoing work to ensure alignment with standard project procedures and technical data sheets (TDS).
Defect Prevention: Identify application defects (e.g., runs, sags, inadequate DFT thickness) early and enforce immediate corrective action.
Inspection Coordination: Work alongside QC Inspectors and client representatives during official hold-point inspections.
4. Workforce Leadership & Administration
Timekeeping: Record daily crew attendance, overtime, and work logs accurately.
Conflict Resolution: Address on-site worker grievances, maintain discipline, and ensure strong crew morale.
Training & Onboarding: Mentor junior workers and brief new joiners on site-specific standards and safe work practices.
Required Qualifications & Key Skills
Education: High School Diploma, Technical/Vocational Diploma, or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in industrial painting, sandblasting, structural coating, or civil contracting, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of surface preparation grades (Sa 2.5, Sa 3) and coating systems (APCS, epoxy, polyurethane applications).
Client Approvals: Client approvals/certifications (e.g., Aramco approved supervisor, NACE/AMPP certification) are a strong plus.
Soft Skills: Strong leadership, practical problem-solving, basic reporting capability, and clear communication skills (English; Arabic or Hindi/Urdu is beneficial).
