1. Planning Engineer (Mechanical)
Department: Project Controls / Planning
Reports To: Project Controls Manager / Project Manager
Job Purpose
Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating overall mechanical execution schedules. Ensures that mechanical construction activities, material procurement, and equipment installation progress seamlessly in alignment with the master project baseline schedule using Primavera P6.
Key Responsibilities
a) Scheduling & Baseline Management: Develop detailed Baseline Construction Schedules (Level 3/4) using Primavera P6, incorporating mechanical work breakdown structures (WBS), resource loading, and critical path analysis.
b) Progress Tracking: Monitor daily/weekly site progress against the baseline. Update progress in Primavera P6, calculate percentage completion, and track Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics.
c) Lookahead Planning: Prepare 3-Week and 6-Week Lookahead schedules for the mechanical site teams to align equipment, workforce, and material availability.
d) Delay Analysis: Identify delay risks, perform Critical Path Method (CPM) analyses, and recommend recovery/mitigation plans to keep mechanical activities on track.
e) Reporting: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project progress reports, S-Curves, manpower histograms, and productivity metrics for senior management and clients.
f) Coordination: Liaise with procurement, engineering, and site execution teams to ensure material deliveries and approvals match scheduled milestones.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
a) Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
b) Experience: Minimum 5 years of mechanical planning experience in major EPC companies, oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial construction projects.
c) Technical Skills: High proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and MS Excel (advanced formulas/macros).
d) Core Competencies: Solid understanding of mechanical construction sequences (piping, static/rotating equipment erection, structural steel, and HVAC).
2. E&I Superintendent (Electrical & Instrumentation)
Department: Field Construction / Site Operations
Reports To: Site Construction Manager
Job Purpose
Directly oversees and leads all field construction activities related to electrical and instrumentation systems. Ensures that high-voltage (HV)/low-voltage (LV) power distribution, cabling, sub-station switchgears, transformers, and instrument systems are installed, tested, and pre-commissioned safely, on time, and according to approved engineering drawings and quality specifications.
Key Responsibilities
a) Field Execution & Supervision: Lead site supervisors, foremen, and field crews in executing electrical and instrumentation installations (power distribution, cable tray routing, cable pulling, termination, transformer setups, switchgears, lighting systems, and earthing/lightning protection).
b) Testing & Pre-Commissioning: Direct testing procedures, including insulation resistance (meggering), high-potential (Hi-Pot) testing, primary/secondary injection tests on switchgears, and transformer continuity/oil tests.
c) Resource Optimization: Allocate daily manpower, tools, heavy equipment, and materials across E&I work fronts to maximize productivity and meet baseline milestones.
d) Safety & QA/QC Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to site HSE standards (LOTO procedures, permit-to-work systems, hot work safety) and quality requirements during electrical installations.
e) Inter-departmental Coordination: Coordinate closely with Civil and Mechanical Superintendents to manage interfaces (e.g., underground electrical duct banks, mechanical equipment power hookups, transformer pads).
f) Client & Vendor Interface: Lead joint site inspections with client inspectors and coordinate vendor technical representatives during main equipment erection and testing.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
a) Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering.
b) Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience strictly in the role of E&I Superintendent within major industrial, power plant, or oil & gas projects.
c) Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of power cabling, high/medium/low voltage switchgears, substation installation, transformers, earthing networks, loop checking, and international codes (NEC, IEC, IEEE).
d) Leadership: Strong leadership, site decision-making, and labor management abilities.
3. Instrumentation Superintendent
Department: Field Construction / Site Operations
Reports To: Site Construction Manager / E&I Manager
Job Purpose
Manages site-level installation, tubing, wiring, calibration, loop testing, and pre-commissioning of all field instrumentation, control valves, safety instrumented systems (SIS), and control architecture (DCS/PLC/SCADA).
Key Responsibilities
a) Site Supervision: Lead instrumentation crews in installing field instruments (transmitters, pressure/temperature gauges, flow meters, control valves, safety valves), instrument air piping, impulse lines, and cable trays.
b) Calibration & Loop Checking: Oversee field instrument bench calibration, cold/hot loop checking, signal verification between field devices and DCS/PLC control rooms, and cause-and-effect testing.
c) System Interfacing: Work closely with automation and process commissioning engineers to troubleshoot loop errors, signal disruptions, and instrument interlocks.
d) Quality & Specification Control: Ensure all installations comply with Hook-up Drawings, Loop Diagrams, Instrument Index, P&IDs, and vendor manuals.
e) Subcontractor & Workforce Management: Plan daily work allocations for instrument technicians and tube fitters; monitor field progress and verify completed work quantities.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
a) Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering or Electronics Engineering.
b) Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in instrumentation site management/supervision in industrial construction.
c) Technical Skills: Extensive knowledge of field instrumentation, impulse tubing, loop checking, DCS/PLC/SCADA interfaces, HART communicators, signal calibrators, and hazardous area classifications (ATEX/IECEx).
4. Welding QC Inspector
Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)
Reports To: QA/QC Manager / Lead QC Inspector
Job Purpose
Responsible for inspecting and verifying all welding processes, welder qualifications, joint preparations, and non-destructive testing (NDT) activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved WPS/PQR, and international codes.
Key Responsibilities
a) Welder Qualification & WPS: Verify Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and conduct/certify Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
b) Inspection Execution: Perform visual inspection of welds before, during, and after welding (fit-up inspection, root pass verification, interpass temperature control, and final weld seam appearance).
c) NDT Coordination: Identify joints for Non-Destructive Testing (RT, UT, MT, PT), review NDT reports from third-party agencies, and maintain NDT tracking logs and clear defect repair records.
