JOB DESCRIPTION

To perform ARC welding operations on carbon steel components, pipes, structures, and equipment in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, welding procedures, and safety standards. The ARC / 6G Welder ensures that welding work is executed efficiently, meets required quality standards, and complies with KSA construction codes and company safety policies. The role involves accurate pipe fitting and welding in the 6G position, coordinating with site engineers, supervisors, and other trades to complete welding activities on time while maintaining structural integrity, quality, and safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform ARC welding operations according to approved drawings, specifications, and welding procedures.
Perform pipe and structural welding in the 6G position as required by the project.
Prepare, cut, bevel, align, and fit pipes and steel components accurately for welding.
Inspect welded joints for quality, penetration, alignment, defects, and overall integrity, carrying out corrective actions when required.
Select and set up appropriate welding machines, electrodes, tools, and consumables according to the job requirements.
Perform root, hot pass, fill, and cap welding in accordance with approved welding procedures and project requirements.
Maintain a safe working environment by strictly following site safety procedures and using the required PPE.
Coordinate with supervisors, site engineers, fitters, and other trades to complete welding activities as scheduled.
Maintain proper documentation of welding activities, including inspection records, weld identification, and daily progress.
Monitor welding electrodes, consumables, and materials to minimize wastage and report shortages or defects.
Conduct visual inspection of completed welds and assist in preparation for NDT/inspection activities where required.
Provide guidance and support to junior welders and helpers.
Ensure compliance with KSA building codes, project specifications, company quality standards, HSE requirements, and environmental regulations.

QUALIFICATION:
Higher Secondary School Certificate (minimum requirement).
Technical Diploma or Certification in ARC / 6G Welding.
Valid 6G Welding Qualification Certificate is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3 years of experience as an ARC / 6G Welder in construction, industrial, piping, or infrastructure projects.
Experience in pipe welding and working in challenging site conditions is preferred.
COMPETENCIES:
Proficient in SMAW/ARC welding techniques, particularly 6G pipe welding.
Ability to perform root, fill, and cap passes with proper penetration and weld quality.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
Knowledge of welding procedures, electrodes, consumables, and basic welding inspection requirements.
Knowledge of KSA construction codes, project quality standards, and safety regulations.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and precision in welding and fabrication activities.
Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions accurately.
Physical stamina and ability to work at heights, confined spaces, and challenging site conditions.
Effective communication and coordination with site engineers, supervisors, fitters, and team members.
Proactive, responsible, and committed to safety, quality, and timely completion of work.
Ability to mentor junior welders and helpers and maintain discipline and good housekeeping on-site.
